I am so mad/sad right now. Rip little buddy.
End of an era. This would be the last Italian Grand Prix an Alfa Romeo would enter, in 1985, at the hands of Ricardo Patrese and American Eddie Cheever. Alfa would continue be an engine supplier, although some wondered why considering how inefficient and unreliable the turbos were, with their only customer, small Turin based team Osella, moving to Cosworth after the 1988 season with the banning of the turbo engine.
Although wildly unsuccessful, the lates 70’s and early 80’s Alfa Romeo team did little to tarnish the great legacy left by the 158/159 Alfettas of the early Formula One era.
